Moonshoes Productions began as a bunch of rag-tag 15-year-olds on a mission to perform their favourite Youtube sensation: a Harry Potter parody musical. We set out to do the impossible: self-produce a three-hour long show with no money, no venue and no experience. After 12 months of rehearsing every Sunday in each other’s living rooms, we performed Starkid's 'A Very Potter Musical' at EV’s Youth Centre in December of 2012, with the help and support of the Maroondah City Council.   

 

In 2013, Moonshoes secured a Youth Creative Arts grant and a partnership with the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood East. This allowed us to stage our second show, Starkid’s 'Holy Musical, B@man!', in January of 2014. Since its humble beginnings, Moonshoes has produced two original parody musicals, ('Girl On Fire: A Hunger Games Parody' in 2015, and 'Marvel-less! A Marvel Parody' in 2016) as well as Starkid's 'Twisted: The Untold Story of a Royal Vizier' in 2016. Moonshoes completed a successful run of 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' shadow casts, in 2018, 2019, 2021 & 2022 to sold out crowds.

 

In October 2024, we celebrated our 12 year anniversary with our quirky variety show, 'Moonshoes: Past, Present, Future'. We showcased numbers from previous Moonshoes shows and gave the audience a glimpse into the future of Moonshoes. The 'Past, Present, Future' Variety Show was nominated for 6 Lyrebird Theatre Awards.
